A range of expert speakers from within the HEI sector, and organisations closely aligned to the HEI agenda, who can stimulate the debate and catalyse critical thinking with 3 key purposes in mind:
- Context the future of the HEI landscape
- Present challenge and fresh perspective
- Support the business case for social enterprise and innovation in the HEI sector
Plus, the launch of our ‘Socially Responsible University’ manifesto to show the power of impact through UK universities collaborating -through common assets, interests and thinking big on social innovation.
SPEAKERS
Prof James Thompson – Professor of Applied and Social Theatre and Associate Vice President for Social Responsibility also the founder and Co-Director of In Place of War - a project researching and supporting arts programmes in war and disaster zones and co-founder of Theatre in Prisons and Probation (Tipp).
Prof Ruth Lupton - Professor of Education at The University of Manchester and part of the Inclusive Growth Analysis Unit a new research team that aims to make poverty reduction central to economic growth and devolution in Greater Manchester, and to provide analysis and insight on inclusive growth in GM and other UK cities.
Dr Carl Emery – TheUniversity of Manchester - Research Associate for Brunswick Anchor programme (Social Responsibility) and Co-producing research-based resources for teachers working in high poverty neighbourhoods (Poverty and Disadvantage)
Peter Down – Over 30 years’ experience of helping businesses to develop and grow and now applies this as a board member at Cariocca, a business park and training organisation dedicated to helping people from all backgrounds to start and grow successful businesses, creating much-needed jobs.
The School for Social Entrepreneurs in the Northwest (SSE) SSE is a charity that supports people using entrepreneurial approaches to tackle complex social problems. Our vision is of a fair and equal society where the potential of all people is fully realised. SSE invests in individuals from all backgrounds who have practical ideas for change.
